National Gypsum Director of Technical Development Receives Global Award

CHARLOTTE, NC--(Marketwired - November 01, 2016) - Eli Stav, director of technical development and analytical services, received the Global Gypsum Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Global Gypsum Industry at that organization's conference this week in Bangkok, Thailand. Stav was selected for the award by his peers in the industry.

Stav is a previous recipient of National Gypsum's Researcher of the Year Award. His selection was based on his collaborative work to develop the company's lightweight wallboard technology.

Stav joined the company 23 years ago in its research facility in Buffalo, NY. He moved to Charlotte when the company opened its Technology Innovation Center in 2002. A native of Israel, Stav became a U.S. citizen in 2007. Prior to joining National Gypsum, Stav helped build a gypsum company in Israel, serving on the process development side of the business. He has his doctorate in chemical engineering from Technion Israel Institute of Technology.

The annual Global Gypsum Conference is the largest meeting of gypsum professionals in the world. Thailand was the site of the first Global Gypsum Conference in 1998. The country is one of the world's largest producers of gypsum and has a large plaster and wallboard sector. Topics covered at this year's conference include gypsum wallboard and plaster market trends, cutting-edge research in gypsum and wallboard production, new applications for gypsum, and recycling, sustainability and the environment.
